About the Author

Gerald Zarr is an American writer and consultant on international development. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, and graduated from Clark University with high honors in international relations. He earned his JD at New York University School of Law. He then practiced law with the international law firm of Shearman & Sterling, and taught law in Liberia and at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. As a senior diplomat in the US Foreign Service, he lived in Pakistan, Tunisia, Ghana, Egypt, Haiti, and Bulgaria for more than twenty years. Since retiring from the Foreign Service in 1995, Gerald Zarr has worked as an international consultant in Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and the Middle East. His articles have appeared in the International Herald Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and other publications. As an enrichment lecturer for various cruise lines, he also speaks on historical and cultural topics on Baltic, Mediterranean, Black Sea, Caribbean, Indian Ocean, and Pacific cruises.

This condensed version of 452 pages is a very very interesting story from the Urantia book of 2,097 pages. But it brings out the story so much better than the King James version of the story ... but the stories speak so much better and "feels" a lot more Life like. I'm pretty sure its not for fundamentalist Christians ... but if you can just free up preconceived notions and just follow the story, if only for the story of Jesus it just might leave you with a ah-ha moment. It is a very good and positive story/history of events that effect us all in the end ... what is possible to happen after our Life ends. The whole story is much more than just about Jesus. All of my waking Life I've heard and read the story of events that happen in the Bible, but I was always left with more questions than I ever got answers to ... it seemed absolutely cryptic and plagued with abysmal misunderstanding issues. And to add to the problems with the King James version, it seems pretty spooky and down right negative. Enter then but by sheer dumb luck the Urantia ... which is a long story in itself with a lot of detail ... 2097 pages ! Then all of a sudden "The Urantia Revelation" fell my way. It just cuts to the chase and arrives by the end with a very believable ... some may say fiction ... history of how the earth became what it is and how the peoples of the Earth ( Urantia ) came about. It fills in a lot of gaps that are in the Bible. I find it far more reliable and by far and away more positive as a Life enhancement. As weird as Life can be and in some regards unbelievable, it should not stop one from asking questions and looking for answers to questions never answered. Life is so very short ... by the time one begins to figure it out its time to transition from this Life to what ever ... if anything ... is next. I found a ( one of many ) nugget from the Urantia to leave you with : " Evil is dependent on a deficiency of wisdom." But wisdom can often be found in the most unlikely places ... all of the books above are tools towards knowledge but one must take the time to first look.

"Incredible, Awesome, and Stupendous" come to mind in trying to describe my reaction to this great book.Without adding to, or subtracting from the Cosmology, Theology and History revealed in the Urantia Book - and (perhaps more importantly) without "dumbing it down" the author has made the dense material contained in the Urantia Book eminently accessible.I cofidentially recommend this book for all potential, new, and experienced Urantia Book readers.Kudos to the author!

The beginning is hard to follow but when the book starts into the chapters it’s good, the narrator is a little monatone at times but it’s good as far as I’ve gotten in the book!

As a Catholic, I found parts of this book revelatory. But the many pages that describe the history of Jesus seem to me quite protestant in viewpoint. For instance, there’s hardly a mention of the mother of Jesus, as if to say she was insignificant. Also, no mention of the Eucharist, and yet the apostles and early church recognized “the body and blood of Christ.” I recommend this book to anyone seeking the truth but rest assured, it is not THE BOOK, because there is no THE BOOK.

If you are buying this DON'T purchase the holiday ornament CD, as those are also on this CD. (When I say holiday, I specifically mean Christmas, not Halloween, I don't believe there was a special Halloween issue before 2010.) Anyway, I have had a subscription to this on and off, I really prefer this, as opposed to saving back issues for something I may or may not do. There is a search feature as well, if you are looking for a specific designer. Many popular designers have been featured in this magazine, along with a chart. Plus, my tastes have changed over the Yeats, and this is a great collection of charts at a decent price!

This is a gift for my mom. Other than a shipping issue that was Amazon's fault. My mother loves it. She lives in two different states, depending on the time of year, and has 20 years of this magazine in boxes. Now, she can donate a decade of magazines to some thrift shop AND she can take the patterns and everything with her back and forth without taking up much room. It's almost like having your cake and eating it too.

These issues show how "Just Cross Stitch" advanced over the years. They have more embroidery, hardanger, and tapestry patterns implemented in these issues. There is a beautiful pattern of a Horse and Trains. Numerous patterns of Lighthouses of various regions . . .just beautiful! Well worth the buy. If you love those Donna Vermillion Giampa pillows? This is a great purchase for you.

So glad I got this. It is a great way to keep my magazines together without taking up all the room.

LOVE having my collection available digitally. LOVE being able to enlarge patterns on screen for easier reading.
