About the Author

Tom Myers studied physics in Bogota, Colombia and Buenos Aires, Argentina before receiving his bachelor's degree from St. John's College in Santa Fe, and his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania. This book was so engaging that my lersson plans could not keep up with the kids reading pace.Fabulous! Reads like an award winning YA novel and presents Chinese history, with its unfamiliar names and language in a thoroughly approachable and yet rigorous manner.Next year I am going to build a whole, longer unit around this one volume and skip a book in the series that covers a period that the kids get over and over, in favor of more time for this gem.

this books helped me understand the beginnings of the Chinese civilization and how the culture evolved. It is full of primary sources and excellent examples of art/artifacts that demonstrate what the author is explaining.

Not sure here about the paper quality. I have the whole series. Somehow the paper in this book is off. Binding is excellent. I think the quality of the paper is definitely different from the other volumes I have. Odd.

Kleeman and Barrett have a good kid-friendly book, full of sidebars, graphics and stories, which offers a healthy sample of fascinating angles on ancient China.
