I enjoy sitting on the front porch watching the birds that come to my feeder. I keep this book by the front door to look up new visitors.I really like the way this book is organized. Sometimes I know exactly what bird I'm looking at (a Cardinal, for example, is hard to mistake.) in that case I may skip directly to the how-to-attract-it section. My only real complaint is that the photos (deliberately) show the most distinctive and vivid examples of a species color and markings. I would prefer to see a more typical example. That's just my opinion.

This is mostly written. Only pictures of males and those pictures are of poor quality . I don't recommend this book.

I have many more birds than are shown in this backyard book. I had to go to my old standby Peterson's to identify my beautiful little pine warblers. Glossy book for beginners, but not nearly comprehensive enough for serious twitchers.

Nice looking book that I am pleased to give to a friend for her birthday. She is just now getting into birding and I think she will find it very interesting and helpful.

Bought as a gift but she loves it.

I bought this book for my 95 year old mother who is in the top assistance level of a nursing home. One of her greatest pleasures is still watching the birds who come to the feeder outside her window. When I visited her recently and took her the book, we really enjoyed looking up the various birds that we saw in the feeder and for just a few moments, my Mom had some peace and joy and a brief journey back into the earlier parts of her life. This to me is worth all the gold in California!!

This book is highly incomplete. Many of the birds we are seeing in our yard are not listed in this book. We are very disappointed in this book.
