I recently quit my retail management job of 11 years. Although I have given numerous interviews, I haven't actually prepared for myself to be interviewed in a LONG time.This book is a little thin, but I found most of it pretty helpful. You just have to apply everything to your history/background. The basics are great in here. I'm sure I could have found this information with LOTS of google searching, but who has time for that? It's all here in one little package.It must have worked, because I was hired for my dream job in healthcare!

It's true. One of the 7 questions was asked during the phone interview... #3. However, I learned at the end of the interview that it was a fishing expedition. The interviewer started by asking me what employment I had BEFORE my first entry on my resume and then after covering what was on my resume, double backed again to what I did before. I was disappointed since it didn't seem that 18+ years experience in one position was not good enough, but trying to determine how old I was. I would recommend this book-- it's quick and gets to the point. I did get a job in another interview-- face to face and I based my responses entirely on the ones recommended in the book. It set me at ease even though I was nervous! It helped to break the ice when I mentioned I was nervous too... the interviewer quickly became less formal... Thanks much for this...

I purchased this to assist me in preparing to interview for my dream job, which I NAILED! There is a TON of knowledge here, and the prep questions are a great way to get your mind in the right frame to interview. I cannot recommend this book enough - it would be a bargain at twice the price.

This is indeed an excellent book, overflowing with wonderful photographs, some of them quite breathtaking. The text is fascinating to read. It's also highly informative yet never dull or overly technical. Anyone interested in the construction of this amazing bridge, or the construction of the 'great bridges' around the world would enjoy reading this fine work. I am proud to have it in my personal library.

Visited San Francisco and wanted a book about the Golden Gate Bridge. This has beautiful photos and history! A good choice for all!

I write this review to echo the other reviews, but to also correct one serious flaw of the book. The incredible cover photo is a fake. See the original attached photo. Interestingly, this is long before photoshop was available (original cover appeared in 1979).

Awesome Book

Spanning the Gate is a fascinating book with breathtaking photos of the Golden Gate Bridge under construction. There are many interesting personal annecdotes about the people involved with building the bridge, both engineers and workmen. The book contains some really surprising information about the bridge, such as how the cable was "spun" and the fact that the pieces of the towers were actually made in the east and thus had to be transported by ship to San Francisco through the Panama Canal! This really surprised me!

Anyone who is a fan of Taschen's line of coffee table art books and Terry Richardson will enjoy this book.Terry Richardson is one of the more risque and gritty fashion photographers of the last decade or so, with his signature glasses and plaid shirts, an this book is a fun, brief foray into some of his work. It is definitely risque, NOT safe for work or children - and some of the photos may be a bit uncomfortable for some readers / viewers.But, this is a great volume to add to your Taschen series, or any photo book collection.

Print quality is poor. Many, if not most of the images have lines running through them--like the corrugated lines on cardboard. I've received two different copies of this book from Amazon. Both have the same print quality issue. Oh well, for $14 . . .

This book is very great, great print quality, photographer Terry is very crazy and photography is very provocative and sensual. He advises all those who do not have too much trouble with the naked one

While I do think this book is a great deal at around $14, I found the content underwhelming. Imagine if a kind of slimy quasi-celeb in Hollywood had a series of drug/sex parties and someone walked around with a camera taking pics of the the men's equipment and caught a few couples doing sleazy stuff. Then various girls posed and showed their boobs, a few pornstars came by and blew some guys, and the host took more pics of his Johnson. Some of the guests clowned around with props and did silly stuff naked, all captured on film. Then you would have the pics in this book. The only thing I can say for Terry is that he's taken some of the best pics of Lindsay Lohan I've seen. But there is nothing approaching that quality in this book.

Terry's world might be, hell, it's MEANT to be a little scary for alot of people! Not in the sense of depicting violence or even real depravity but rather in the near-apocalypitc vulgarity with which it depicts post modern-hedonism, where sexual pleasure is about as idealized as a Tijuana donkey-show.A man, laying half-passed-out on a bed, is seen puking, Terry (who appears in many of his own photos) pulls a tampon string out of a woman's vagina with his teeth, a guy pisses into his own mouth--you get the picture. It's a garbage-world where all the turn-ons are trashy. It is strangely arousing inspite of the yuck factor, but whether that's because it's sexy or because I'm just so jaded I'm happy for anything that can jolt and shock my deadened nerves, is up for debate!Jolts and shocks are what Terryworld is all about. Terryworld is to erotica what Hustler was to Playboy. It's flat-out raunch,but with a fashion photographer's sensibility, which is to say that it does have some artistic merit beyond its novelty value, calling to mind the "provacateur" advertising campaigns of recent years, of which Terry himself has often played a part. His situation-heavy portraits are Tarantino-like movie stills from a movie I'm not sure I want to see.Which brings me to my point; In the end, after all the money's come in, all the heads have turned and all the word-of-mouth has been exhausted, what is the final value of shock?Remember when you were fourteen and looking at your stolen copy of Hustler, you felt kind of sick at the end of the ride. Your heart rate increased as you turned each page, your curiosity peaked to see the next lurid spectacle, you flipped faster and faster until finally it was over, you'd seen the whole thing--More, in fact, than your mind was capable of processing in one sitting. You were late for dinner, had a pressure headache, and a faint desire to go to church.Welcome to Terryworld.

This book is extraordinary! Dr Gottlieb is truly a visionary that was able to integrate many concepts together on a continuum. I had this book in the context of my graduate studies in nursing. I found it to be enjoyable to read as well as very informative. The book addresses new areas in the world of nursing. I especially enjoyed the her definition of health which includes the concept of wholeness and whole-person care. I also frequently cited this book in my works for graduate studies as it is a rich source of nursing knowledge.

I bought this book in the context of my masters degree and I have used it for most of my papers since my purchase.It is very easy to read and provides a good theoretical background for all aspects of strengths based nursing. I really enjoyed all of the input from nurses that was included within the theoretical frameworks. It created an excellent bridge between theory and practice. I highly recommend it!
