Most of the information in the book was interesting. It is a very in-depth look at the beginnings of Deaf education, Deaf culture, and the Deaf community in America. However, I would have appreciated a little bit about contemporary American Deaf culture and community, and how it evolved from the early days. I relied on the in-class discussions and my Deaf instructor's insight to tie all of that together. If you're interested in Deaf culture/community, and want to know the historical reasons why most Deaf are proud and protective of their language and schools, this book is a good read. If you're looking for information specific to contemporary Deaf culture, maybe not the book for you.

Read this for deaf history and I found this book very interesting, worth checking out.

Liked they all signed on Martha's vineyard better from an anthropological standpoint and this from cultural. Interesting and should be read by every student wanting to be an interpreter so they can understand the reasons for why the Deaf do the things they do.

I love that book because it had a wealth of information about how Deaf community go through the years, past, history that included language, school, employment, and Deaf community.

I especially appreciated the tips that the author provided like "use the same effect for all the pictures in your book and throughout an entire series. Thanks again for another great resource for creating children's picture books.

You will learn how to get it done in a well illustrated manner. Good pictures and simple directions are very helpful. This is a cheap and easy way to illustrate your book for kids.

If I have one criticism, it's that the cover didn't do this book justice, and made it seem like the point was that sloppy drawing made good illustration. Instead, the author pointed to some computer programs that were perfect for illustrators, as well as sources for truly copyright free (or cheap source for purchase) pics - something I always fret above. Book worth every penny.

It was very easy to follow. The author included many helpful resources throughout the book. She offered websites as well as helpful techniques to create images.

Eve Heidi Bine-Stock has done it again! I received this as a gift. I'm usually skeptical about how-to books. I'm a technical cretin and step-by-step books can-- and do-- drive me into a state of abject PANIC.This one's radically different. Easy to follow and written in clear and simple language, it's almost as if Ms. Bine-Stock is in the room peering over my shoulders waiting patiently to see if I understand each step before moving to the next. I never knew that I could create fabulous, artistic illustrations from photographs, many of them inexpensive or even free-- and all legal to use.I'd fantasized about creating a book as a gift for my two young granddaughters. After this, I soon began brainstorming about this (potential) book and even began by listing the kinds of pictures I'll need.

I can't draw and this book is EXACTLY what I was looking for to help me self-publish my book.

I'm always fascinated by and trying to learn more about the ancient Maya. Despite the title, this book is for planning travel to explore the ruins in eastern Mexico and Guatemala, rather than information about the sites. As such I think he's done a good job although ignoring Belize, which is adjacent to both and home to many major Mayan sites, seems to be a weakness to me. Mayan enthusiasts considering a trip to these sites should find this book to be a helpful planning guide. It goes into considerable detail on travel times between sites, travel arrangements, and a brief description of what to expect when you get to each. Personally, I think several of these sites really need more time than he allocates for exploring but certainly a visitor could get a decent overview in the time frames he suggests.If you're looking for information about the sites, details on their intricate histories and so forth, this is not the right book for you. But if you're trying to plan a visit to these sites, primarily using public transportation once you're in the Yucatan, then you will be glad you bought this book.

I am astonished by this book and don't understand how the author ever got it published. I have never, in my wildest dreams, seen such a pitiful travel guide. Maps for individual sites are drawn freehand and out of scale, with the names of some of the buildings (I expect just those the author could remember in the 10 minutes it took him to produce it) scribbled in, again in longhand, so that you can't read some of them. There is also negligable information about the archaeology of any of the sites, just details about when they open, how busy they are, and what you should wear. Then there are some snapshots the author took of a handful of buildings. And it's expensive, which tends to make you think it might be good when you see it in the Amazon book list.

Excellent book detailing traveling to the lesser known mayan ruins and their level of "interestingness". At $6 for a kindle download, its a great deal and quite informative if you are thinking about checking out more that just Chitzen Itza. It gives the known history of the site, and idea of what the town and accomodations nearest the ruin are like, and general conditions with a small map of each site hand drawn by the author.

As a liberal reform Jewish woman marrying a wonderful catholic man, it was hard to find resources to create a ceremony that helped create a religious ceremony that fit our Jewish catholic interfaith egalitarian eco friendly fractured family situation. This book made me feel so supported, so creative, and inspired to create a ceremony that fulfills our legal requirements as well as our spiritual requirements. This is great for orthodox couples, reform, interfaith, gay/lesbian, secular, highly religious, and everyone in between. Love this book!!!

My fiance is Jewish and I am not, and we were looking for a book that explained some of the Jewish traditions in a way that could be used in a mixed wedding. This book, however, is solely for an all-Jewish wedding and assumes a background knowledge about Judiasm that was not helpful for us. For example, we wanted an explanation of the meaning of the breaking of the glass that we could offer up to our guests, but the book just assumed people knew what the ritual was all about and did not offer much language we could use. I did give the book 3 stars because it seemed to be very open to variants of Jewish weddings (for more modern couples), but had no real info of use to me.

Perfect size to take to services. Missing enough (are there ever enough?) ribbons to mark everything you need for a Sunday Communion service. But you can get those at any Christian store and add them. Cover is well stitched to interior and it almost lays flat. Nice sized print too.

My mom wanted the older version of the BOCP. She got used to my grandmothers addition from the 50's during her prayers and this one was page for page the exact same. Bonded leather cover with place holders added to the quality feel. Overall a good source and nice addition to your prayer and church needs.

It's nice to have your own copy of the Book of Common Prayer, that way you can mark it or make notes. The leather covers are beautiful and it's well put together.The size is a little small, so, you'll need to your 'reading glasses', especially if it's a dimly lit church or a candlelight service.

Because of the brevity, pay close attention to everything written.There are those who will read books of hundreds of pages, or take expensive courses from folks like Jose Silva or others whose methods are from Coue -- and benefit not at all. There are those who will read a $4.50 book of 50 pages of the original words of Emile Coue and change their lives.

I'm on a journey of self healing and have been seeking out books that would help me do just that. After reading countless self healing books, I'm coming back to the basics of self healing - autosuggestion. I've done self hypnosis, which also works, but sometimes I don't have the time to sit there and listen to an MP3 for half an hour. This book is pretty basic. If you're after bells and whistles, forget it. This is just straight to the point with no nonsense. I do believe we have the power to heal ourselves, but something gets screwed up along the way. I also believe that healing should be simple. I've pretty much had it with books that talk about self healing that don't work, or worst still, have a hidden agenda to sell you something. Our bodies have their own wisdom and we need to get back to that place where our body is not separated from our subconscious but both work in harmony, therefore, a simple command to a certain part of your body, should work. I have so far used it for headaches and aches and pains and it works wonderfully well. I'm moving onto my bigger health problems at the moment and am looking forward to it working. I have no doubt it will work It's a simple book with simple solutions. If you think you need more than this to heal or have mastery over your life, then this book will only disappoint you. I highly recommend it. Time to come back to the simple things that work and always will.

The substance of this book is very short but I like that. Why waste words? This guy was amazing and I would have loved to have met him and seen him in action - many times healing people simply by shaking their hand and saying so! His methodology is based on hypnotic suggestion, through vocal repetition, visualization, and imagining. Many other books confirm the various statements and methods that he uses, if you need that, but it’s effectively as simple as understanding that you have to make your desire a command statement and once you get that command through to your subconscious/inner self, it just happens!

Positive thinking works, especially if combined with a mindful, faithful trust in God to rescue us when it doesn't. This groundbreaking work has a lot of good suggestions for how to use it yourself. I pray that those who practice these techniques, should have the strength to persevere in there practices until they have many wonderful experiences of happiness and healing with them that reinforce their practice. Only because I am familiarized with Coue method, I understand what goes on in the book. I expected more like a plan/system to apply. The book's title is misguiding.

He gives good case histories of his successes but I would like to have read something of his failures as that too teaches us a lot. If I had lived in France a hundred years ago I would definitely have scheduled an appointment.
