This is one of the "Bibles" of emergency care. Every emergency physician knows about this and consults it. So do knowledgeable nurses and paramedics involved in emergency care. It is not perfect. Rosen's may be better in the long run, but this will get you to "GO" most of the time. There is no one text that suffices for all one needs to know in emergency care, but this book should be on every emergency caregiver's bookshelf.
This book goes into great detail and serves as both a great learning tool and a strong reference. Definitely way more detail than a medical student will need for their home/away rotations, but an essential text for any EM resident.
The previous editions of Tintinalli's were a staple of my education, and this edition continues the tradition of quality writing, editing and excellent, complete information. This book is a must have for any provider that treats patients in an emergent setting. It gives you exactly the right amount of pathophysiology, general background, progression and treatment information to make in incredibly effective for nearly all of the conditions and complaints you may encounter. The tidbits on the appropriate treatment plans are spectacular and typically prevent me from having to find another reference manual to understand the diagnosis, progression, treatment and prognosis.The book itself is well bound and of quality materials.Tintinalli's will continue to reside on the top of the pile of my first line reference texts for the less common conditions that I have little understanding of. Absolutely will be buying the next edition and those after that.
I love this book. Even though I work Urgent Care there is a ton of great information that is applicable for this position!
Purchased for my sister who is studying for the Emergency Boards. This is an exceptional text book on the subject.
A classic. If you are going into Emergency Medicine or EMS just buy yourself a hard copy and do yourself a favor.
Great reference. I'm a current EM resident, use it often for lectures, posters, etc. I leave it at home, as it is a textbook and pretty heavy.
