Jorgensen, Ph.D., is an inclusive education consultant in private practice after being a project director with the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and an assistant research professor in UNH's Education Department from 1985 to 2011. She is a co-founder of the National Center on Inclusive Education. Jorgensen has authored several books (including The Inclusion Facilitator’s Guide and The Beyond Access Model) and research articles; presents at state, national, and international conferences; and provides student-specific consultation throughout the United States.Paula Kluth, Ph.D., is one of today's most popular and respected experts on autism and inclusive education. Through her work as an independent consultant and the high-energy presentations she gives to professionals across the country, Dr. Kluth helps educators and families create responsive, engaging schooling experiences for students with disabilities and their peers, too. I have been working with our school district for nine years on how to effectively include our son who has Down Syndrome. This year I rededicated myself to inclusion. I wish I had this resource nine years ago! Cheryl Jorgensen gives specific, detailed, easy to understand suggestions and case studies that will help you effectively dismantle the road blocks to inclusion in your child’s education. Our son just entered ninth grade and this book is an invaluable tool. I offered to buy all the teachers on our IEP team a copy; it’s that important of a resource!

Very pleased with this book. All of the chapters are great but my favorites areConstruct Learning and Communicative Competence and Write an Inclusive, Standards-Based IEP. I am going to buy another copy to give away. I want to hold on to my copy!

We are reviewing It's More Than "Just Being In" as part of a book study and I am so inspired by this author's rationale for inclusion that it has changed my practice and opinion about what is best for individual students. Great read!
