I bought this book as part of a class I took as an undergraduate. I found the class very informative, but the information in this book is very helpful for those with limited to no background in private wealth management and are looking for somewhere to get started. I will say that it is helpful to have some financial background, but if not there is nothing you could not find out by doing some independent research on the internet.Overall I would say a good book for relative beginners as well as a nice reference book to have as you move forward in life.

Required textbook for Tax and Financial Planning Class. This is the most useful college text book i have ever been required to buy.

Good reference, but a bit dated--written during the financial crisis. Not sure if all of the tax info. is up to date.

Explains the different types of securities ect. I needed a good reference and I can recommend it.

And it was a good choice as it made my Sunday a great deal more enjoyable.We often see a ‘Western’ person fall in love with a hunk from a more exotic country, be it Greece or Italy or Spain or maybe a highlander from Scotland. But I’ve very rarely read romances where the man is from India. So it was an extra lovely treat to follow the story of Jane from England and her royal Vijay. I loved it that she was portrayed as such an Indophil,e craving Indian food and keeping up to date on the country. I loved it even more that her family has much closer ties to the Asian country than she would have ever suspected it. The author managed to cleverly interweave her contemporary quest for love with the tragic yet also magical one of her ancestors.It was nice to catch a glimpse of the opulent palace as well as of the tumultuous past. But I almost loved it more to get to know the royal family, especially Vijay’s sister and the great-aunt Devika, my surprising namesake. The story flowed well, was fast-paced and revolved around several misunderstandings and second chances. I found myself rooting for these lovers, and immensely satisfied with their eventual happy ending.

I just loved the way the story unfolds. The relationship between Jane and Vijay was interesting and cute. I love second chance romances and enjoyed the royal touch to a beautiful love story.

I have found another author to look for the next great read

As usually, Schama proves to be a great thinker and a great writer. Knowing that he also teaches Art History, I expected this book of his to contain his thoughts about painted landscapes.... I had to realise it is FAR from it. All about his ancestors life in the wild, rather frightening dark woods of the baltic countries. And it manages to be thrilling, so knowledgeable, and witty.!!!Shama proves again to be a great writer ....and a thrilling personality one would like to meet one day..

This is one of the challenging book I have ever written. Schama creative, complex and storied manner of telling his stories is remarkable. Relating cultural myths and icons to rocks and water and woods is remarkable and to get into each insight requires reserving you thoughts for a slow assessment is required. I spent several days on just 3 pages.

Interesting musings. Uneven. At times I was caught up in the narrative, but then he would lose me. Schama has been one of my favorites but this time he seemed to be working too hard. I did gain a few new insights and usually shared his mood.

I love SS and his writing style - his narrative doesn't wander so much as encompasses many levels and aspects of history, anecdote, art, and general human understanding. This book is a joy to read. There were so many bits that I wanted to share with friends, but settled on the story of his father and the whitebait - p352 - as an example of what is in store.I read it for the pleasure of it, but I will also now look at and paint landscapes differently.

Essential reading.

This is one of the best book I ever read. It tells history as it were a novel where every little detail hidden in the landscape throughout the world becomes a main actor of a plot. It's like sketching with words. It tells how intriguing is to look at, really to look at, even when it seems there's nothing to look at. Antropic landscape and nature are the two superheroes that play kind of a classic drama.

Surprisingly, the other reviewers on this site seem to have missed the point of the book. The point is that our perceptions of nature are not merely historically informed, but historically constituted. The irrespressable Lithuanian Bison was the formative metaphor for the Lithuanian pagan cultural ideal of freedom. Ultimately, it's a cultural case for the preservation of wilderness because that wilderness is part of who we are in the deepest sense. Agree or disagree with Schama's thesis, but you should try to comprehend the book before you review it. Personally, I think it's brilliant.

Beautifully written and the photos are to die for. A must have for anyone interested in the history and experience of being a black woman and a model.

I was very excited to read this book and I was highly disappointed. The content was great but the editor and author needs to be slapped. The layout was ridiculously confusing, the chapters had no flow, pictures didn't correspond with the stories, some of the interviews bordered on the foolish, etc.... The was a two paragraph mention about black male models. what about children models? What about the effects of we are portrayed in advertisements through history? Where is the history? A chronological timeline? I've read articles in white mags about black models that gave more information that this book. Don't buy it.

This is a first and the most compelling, comprehensive and enligtening book on the subject. I applaud the author and publisher for their vision, tenacity and courage. A must for every library. Kudos!!

The Heidelberg Catechism, a Reformed catechism which was used to establish the Reformed faith in the Palatinate, an area of Germany in the 16th Century C.E., is loved by Paedobaptist and Credobaptists alike. Hercules Collins, a Particular Baptist who lived in the later half of the 16th Century and into the early 17th Century, adapted the Heidelberg Catechism for his congregation. His result was the Orthodox Catechism.Along with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith and the Baptist Catechism commonly attributed to Benjamin Keach, the Orthodox Catechism is an excellent teaching document for teaching in churches and in the home. Hercules Collins was a Particular Baptist pastor of the largest Particular Baptist congregation in London when he penned the Orthodox Catechism. Collins was among those who had been imprisoned by the British Government for violating the Clarendon Code. As a non-conformist Puritan at odds with the Anglican State Church, Collins saw some of his fellow ministers die in prison. After his release from prison, Collins signed the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, which was based on the Westminster Confession and the Savoy Declaration, used by Presbyterian and Congregationalist Churches, respectively, before his work on the Orthodox Catechism.This edition of the Orthodox Catechism has been edited somewhat for clarity. A section on the laying on of hands after baptism has been omitted. There is a short biography of Collins and an overview of the catechism included. A great edition to the library of a Reformed Baptist home, this catechism can also be used in church study groups.

How refreshing to read such a beautiful compilation of Bible doctrine in a question and answer format from a 1689 Baptist, and one of the contributors to the 1689 Confession no less. It is truth that will bless the soul and move one to worship, be the person young or old. It certainly did for me.The introductory material is also excellent, providing very helpful historical background and context. The editors are to be commended!I unreservedly recommend this catechism for anyone and everyone, for personal learning or family and church instruction.

With the Millennials leaving the Evangelical church in droves weekly it seems as they enter adulthood, perhaps we should consider adding something to our youth groups. The Protestant catechisms of our fore-fathers and fore-mothers could help. And one of the oldest and most popular of the time tested Protestant catechisms is the Heidelberg and all Mr. Hercules Collins did was add Baptist distinctives.. This book is a small gem, it reminds me of the pocket Puritans reprints of the catechisms out now. Honestly I would be very happy if they did add this to their collection. As I said before this is a small gem packed with biblical truth not only to help those young in the faith but also for those who are not. Also this book is from a Reformed/ Particular Baptist position so certain questions have been modified. So there is a specific audience this book is for. Again this is a book any Christian will and should delight in.

An excellent piece of work skillfully adapted to meet the needs of Reformed Baptists. Outstandingly valuable as a basic statement of Christian doctrine combined with warm Christian experience.

This appears to be the Heidleburg Confession of Faith--it's nice and all, but not a catechism on the Orthodox Church for which I was looking. Don't be fooled as I was. Also, the Kindle version has no links, so one has to trudge through the entire work to get to what you were looking for. If you want to read it beginning to end, that's fine. This is a part of the Reformed Tradition and not the Orthodox Tradition.
